Prenatal Yoga

Prenatal yoga is an excellent way to prepare for the birth of your child.  We at Heart and Soul of Yoga in Astoria try to ease the transition through all the stages of pregnancy putting moms in touch with their needs, strengthening them physically and emotionally, calming their nervous system, and balancing their inner and outer worlds.  A gentle asana practice brings strength and flexibility; a strong focus on the breath brings an inner awareness and prepares for the birth itself; we are able to offer a great deal of personal attention for students to explore their needs and ask questions.

While we do not offer group classes, we are happy for students to ‘split’ privates with other expectant moms.

 

 

“After my first practice at Heart and Soul of Yoga I was hooked. The classes were very private and I was able to receive a lot of personal hands on attention. I also enjoyed the use of numerous yoga props available to accommodate my changing body, especially at the end of the pregnancy when more relaxation and modification was needed. I am still a member of the studio. Now I take open classes with Vanessa and Kelly, and I also take a gentle class with Barbara. I must say all the teaches are wonderful, they all have the same philosophy and yet their classes are very different. They will encourage you and motivate you but will not push you as they well understand your limits. You will not only receive a great workout but you will also learn a lot about yoga and it’s benefits for your body and mind. Every time I leave the class I feel rejuvenated and full of energy and can’t wait to attend the next one.
